Meet Robin
Therapy is both art and science. Emotion, expression, feelings and insight combine to uncover a healthier, happier, more authentic you. The best artists start with knowledge of materials and how those materials can combine to create something wonderful. They see an underlying structure first, they have knowledge of how light and shadow will influence the outcome. Yes, there is an art to therapy, but it is informed by tried and true science and research. Robin spends a dedicated time each week reading in her field so that she can provide you with the latest tools and ideas to make the best use of your time and resources. Your treatment plan is specific to you and your particular problem.
Robin’s background is rooted in the fields of education, science, and psychology. Robin holds Master level degrees in Science and Human Development. Her undergraduate work includes psychology, sociology, and education. Robin has been working in these fields for the last 30 years in a variety of capacities. She holds licensure with the state of Alabama to practice individual, marriage, and family therapy and has been in private practice for the last several years. Her most recent teaching assignment was at the University of Alabama. Many people think that science and emotion are unrelated: They’re not! The fact that Robin shares a love for science and research, as well as a strong understanding of the human psyche, informs her practice and puts her in a unique position to help clients. You can expect that she will partner with you to set goals for change and improvement. As you both travel together down the discovery path, Robin will also offer you information based on science and research for your particular dilemma. For example, did you know there are neurologists who spend their lives work researching the Brain and Love? There are- and the results are fascinating! Love works on the brain much like cocaine! No wonder we all get addicted to love! The same is true for a variety of other issues. No matter what concerns you right now, rest assured that you are not alone.
